Search for Common Ground (Search) is an international non-profit organization that promotes peaceful resolution of conflict. With headquarters in Washington, DC, Search’s mission is to transform how individuals, organizations, and governments deal with conflict - away from adversarial approaches and toward cooperative solutions. With a total of approximately 800 staff worldwide, Search implements projects from 54 offices in 34 countries, including in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States.
Search for Common Ground is seeking a full-time intern to provide research and support to its Europe-based Global Affairs and Partnership (GAP) team in fundraising, partnerships, and knowledge management. The Intern will help advance Search's business development activities. The objective of this internship programme is to provide the intern with the following knowledge and skills:
- Assist with the development of global partnerships, project designs, and proposals;
- Conduct research related to fundraising from European bilateral governments, EU institutions, and foundations;
- Identify and research opportunities for new program development and partnerships;
- Represent Search at relevant meetings and events in Brussels;
- Develop and update knowledge management tools and resources, such as capacity statements, fundraising analysis and strategies, and more.
Interns play a critical role in Search’s peacebuilding programs through fundraising from governments, multilateral organizations, and foundations, and the design of new programs in coordination with our regional teams. This internship offers students hands-on experience in program design and a behind-the-scenes look at a non-governmental organization. Interns will be introduced to our network of donors and partners in the field of peacebuilding and within the broader humanitarian-development-peacebuilding nexus. Progress against the learning objectives will be monitored by the intern’s supervisor.
The intern will be an integral part of a dynamic Brussels Headquarters team and the GAP team. The intern’s responsibilities are to: a) support the business development work of the EAP department, particularly through research, b) support the advocacy work of the EAP as needed and c) to support with administrative work as needed.
