What we're looking for
Our next Civil Society Space EU Policy Advisor will need to have strong personal motivation for protecting and strengthening civil society and civic space; have an excellent knowledge of EU institutions and Human Rights mechanisms; have experience working in the global south, and specifically in restricted environments; have at least 5 years' experience working in civil society, ideally on civil society strengthening and defending civic space; have a result-oriented approach; and have strong skills in planning and organizing. The successful candidate will have a master's degree in a relevant field, will be a proactive connector, excellent written & spoken English skills, with French/and or Spanish are strongly desirable and will be able and willing to travel regularly.
What we offer
Oxfam International is offering gross starting salary of €64, 243 per annum plus an additional representation and transport allowance based on a 36-hour week, together with contractual benefits of Full Time Equivalent 25 days paid holiday per annum + local public holidays. We also offer a 6% employer contribution to a Complementary Pension scheme. The Role
Oxfam International Secretariat is looking for a Civil Society Space EU Policy Advisor to develop and implement an advocacy strategy on civic space to influence the EU institutions. This person will also be responsible for working with Oxfam country teams, local civil society partners and Human Rights Defenders, to develop and implement strategies at country level in response to shrinking space and link this to action by Brussels based institutions. The Policy Advisor will also play a direct role influencing EU targets on civic space, contribute to strategic learning connections across countries (potentially Colombia, Mozambique, Niger and Nicaragua), facilitate visits by local civil society and Human Rights Defenders to Brussels, and contribute to funding proposals for potential donors to resource country strategies as required. This role will report to Oxfam's Deputy Director of Advocacy, and Head of Oxfam's EU Office.
