Climate Action Network Europe is looking for a
Campaign Officer for the EU Elections (m/f/x)
(Full time or 80% FTE, Fixed term - 15 months, based in Brussels)
Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe is Europe's largest coalition working on climate and energy issues. With over 180 member organisations in more than 38 European countries – representing over 44 million citizens - CAN Europe works to prevent dangerous climate change and promote sustainable climate and energy policy in Europe.
We're currently seeking a highly motivated individual with demonstrated professional experience as a Campaigner to work pushing forward Climate and Energy Policy issues in the EU Parliament Election debates and outcomes. The individual will contribute to the work of CAN Europe as a Campaign Officer under the supervision of the Head of Climate. The position is full time or 80% FTE and based in Brussels in our European secretariat.
Required skills and experiences:
- University degree or equivalent qualification preferably in Political sciences
- 2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience as a campaigner ;
- Outstanding networking skills, ideally demonstrated in an NGO environment;
- Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills;
- Good knowledge of EU institutions and processes, in particular the functioning of the European Parliament and the Council and the European Parliament election;
- Excellent level of written and spoken English;
- High level of motivation and the ability to execute independently complex tasks within deadlines.
The ideal candidate will preferably have some of the following attributes:
- Demonstrated alignment with the mission, the modes of action, and the values of CAN Europe;
- Experience of working within a network of NGOs;
- Though not a necessity, experience with EU or national election campaigning is helpful;
- Working knowledge of the European political landscape and its issues, including national issues;
- Additional European languages are considered an asset.
Job contents:
This position will focus on the EU elections. Tasks will include:
- Coordination of internal work related to the elections: You ensure smooth operation of the internal task force on the elections, liaising with different teams and facilitating engagement of colleagues, in particular on the assessment of incumbent MEPs votes.
- Campaigning and networking: You support CAN Europe leadership involved in coordinating with key partner organisations, in particular on the development and support of the wider election campaign and the organization of relevant high-level meetings and events.
- External communications: Under the supervision of the CAN Europe comms team, you ensure that our activities are noted in traditional and social media.
- Internal communications: You keep our campaign partners and wider network of member organisations informed about upcoming campaign moments and ensure they have all the tools at hand they need to maximize our impact.

The opportunity to play a central role in the climate movement's civil society campaigns ahead of the European parliamentary elections 2024.
A fixed contract - 15 months with flexible working hours and the possibility of teleworking.
This position is based in Brussels but it is also open to applicants from the European Union willing to relocate or those already in possession of a residence and a work permit. We are not considering sponsoring visas this time.
Remuneration is based on our Belgian salary grid with an expected salary between 3.450,00 € and 3.650,00 € gross/month depending on the relevant years of experience (from 2 to 5 years) and subject to Belgian tax; Meal vouchers (7,00 €/day); transport costs; eco-vouchers (250,00 €/year); sport and culture vouchers (100,00 €/year), phone allowance (39,00 €/month); work computer.
