Profil
- With a Master’s Degree (academic or professional), you have at least 10 years of relevant experience in the finance domain.
- You have a proven experience in leading the Finance department of a medium-sized organization.
- An experience in the non-for-profit sector is a plus.
- You have strong leadership, project management and change management skills.
- You have proven experience in people management, driving and developing teams through transformation, installing a culture of open communication and collaboration.
- You are structured, process- and tool-minded, you look for efficiency and continuous improvement.
- You have strong communication and negotiation skills (written and oral).
- You are action- and result-driven with the needed attention to details, and proven ability to drive toward long-term results.
- You are fluent in English, French and Dutch.
- You are digital savvy ; you are in favour of digital transformation to support and realize your mission and you can demonstrate the relevant IT skills.
- An experience with ERP software is a plus.
- You are a team player, you have a positive and learning mindset.

Description
Damien Foundation (DF) is a Belgian NGO active in the fight against leprosy, tuberculosis and other neglected poverty-related diseases, with health programs in 13 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin-America and a project in Belgium.
Within Damien Foundation, the Finance Department provides the necessary finance services to support the organization and the different Departments realizing their missions, at the Brussels Headquarters as well as overseas in the countries.
To take the lead of the Finance team, Damien Foundation is looking for a
Head of Finance Department

As the Head of Finance Department, your general mission is to ensure that Damien Foundation has a sound and sustainable financial situation that allows her to fulfil its mission. You elaborate the financial strategy, you execute it and act as a financial partner for the other Heads of Department. You manage and run all finance-related activities of the organization (accounting, reporting, budgeting & forecasting, treasury, investments, procurement…), with an eye on reaching the appropriate level of integration between Headquarters and international operations.
As the Head of Finance Department, you report to the General Manager and you are a member of the Management Team. You directly lead a team of 2 people and you work closely with the Heads of Department within the Management Team at DF Headquarters in Brussels, as well as with the Country Representatives overseas.
Key Responsibilities
- Elaborate the financial strategy, advise on long-term business and financial planning to drive the financial situation with respect to the long-term objectives of the organization.
- Act as a partner and provide strategic financial recommendations to the General Manager and the Management Team to ensure a sound and sustainable financial situation of the organization.
- Develop and lead an enthusiast and performing finance team, guide it throughout its transformation ; coach team members and care for their development
- Run and manage the financial processes of the organization (financial forecasting and budgets, accounting & reporting, procurement, investment & treasury management) to monitor the financial situation of Damien Foundation and provide a service of quality
- Lead and oversee the annual financial close, which includes the preparation, presentation and publication of statutory financial statements in accordance with the Belgian legislation
- Establish and develop trust-based relations with the Board members, Financial Committee members, Management Team, external auditors, bankers, and other external partners and stakeholders to ensure a fruitful and constructive collaboration in view of reaching financial objectives of the organization.
- Set up, review and continuously improve all formal and informal finance procedures and tools, reaching the appropriate level of automatization, digitalization and integration between Headquarters and operations in the countries, in order to run finance operations in the most efficient way and to ensure the quality of financial data.
- Contribute to or, if appropriate, take the lead on the implementation of transversally integrated and optimized processes and tools across the organization, including elaborating and executing the relevant IT strategy and architecture, in order to ensure operational efficiency and guarantee the right level of data quality.
