Description
Plan International Belgium is seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic short-term, home-based consultant to lead the development of a global training package on child survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).
This is a temporary project between September 2020 and November 2020 (total of 40 working days).
Under the leadership of the Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) network, Plan International has increased its global presence in the sector of sexual and gender-based violence. Plan International is a core member of the global GBV Area of Responsibility and has supported the development of and endorsed the Minimum Standards for GBV Prevention and Response Programming in Emergencies, participated in the revision of the SGBV Standard in the Child Protection Minimum Standards 2019 Edition and is currently engaged in the Child and Adolescent Survivors Initiative. At the same time, Plan International has increased its portfolio of SGBV programming in several humanitarian responses, including Nigeria, Central African Republic, Burkina Faso, Malawi, Bangladesh, Colombia, Uganda, among others and is currently developing a global Program Model to address child marriage in humanitarian settings.
Plan International is now looking to strengthen the capacity of Plan International’s humanitarian response in working with child survivors of SGBV through the development of a global SGBV training package. The development of a SGBV training package falls in line with the global CPiE network’s FY2019 workplan, “Objective 3.3: Strengthen technical expertise on SGBV programming, in particular CEFM, in humanitarian settings.” With support from Plan International UK, this training package will target Plan International staff who work directly on programs that aim to prevent and respond to child survivors of SGBV in humanitarian contexts, such as technical specialists, program managers, coordinators, and officers. In addition, this package will support humanitarian program managers in National Organizations (NO) in the development of technically sound proposals. The training package is envisioned to be modular, allowing for field staff to carry out select modules on an ongoing basis and based on the capacity-building needs of their field teams.
An internal reference group made of technical staff from GH, NOs, ROs, and COs will be established to review and provide feedback to all developed materials. Developed training materials will be in line with existing global standards, including but not limited to the Child Protection Minimum Standards and the GBV Minimum Standards. All training materials will be available online for all Plan International staff to access.
