About the role

We are looking for a Communications Officer to join the ZWE team. 

Due to ZWE’s current needs and opportunities, this position’s workload will be divided into 50% media outreach and 50% hybrid communications.

The Communications Officer will be responsible for leading ZWE’s media outreach efforts - both from a proactive and reactive perspective - while still being able to support the other members of the Communications Team on hybrid communications activities. You will be accountable for ensuring strategic coherence to ZWE’s communication strategy (including its media outreach/press strategy). 

The Communications Officer will report to ZWE’s Head of Communications and be placed within the ZWE Communications team (which currently hosts two other Communications Officers).

 

The core responsibilities of the Communications Officer will be to:

 

Media Outreach:

• Lead the development and implementation of ZWE’s media outreach efforts designed to inform media outlets, policymakers, and other influential stakeholders.
• Be the point of contact for all press and media enquiries directed at Zero Waste Europe.
• Build strong working relationships with a comprehensive list of journalists, editors, producers, and digital media in Brussels and EU countries/cities - including hosting and leading 1:1 meetings between key journalist contacts and members of the ZWE team.
• Be responsible for both reactive and proactive media activity, managing press enquiries, and developing media campaigns. 
• Support spokespeople across the organisation with briefings, messaging, and talking points for media interviews.
• Keep abreast of news agendas and EU institutions issues, proactively identifying media opportunities (interviews, op-eds, …).
• Work with the Communications team to deal with crises and issues, and collaborate with other team members (Enabling Conditions, Implementation, and Management).
• Liaise with the press during times of crisis management or unexpected negative public relations incidents.
• Maintain and update media lists and press materials, with full tracking and reporting (including monthly and annual media monitoring reports).
• Proofread, and where necessary rewrite, statements from team members.
• Draft and send press releases in collaboration with the Communications Team and the wider Zero Waste Europe Team, and follow up with media contacts for collateral materials.
• Ensuring the integration of digital and social media alongside any press and media campaigns by working closely with the rest of the Communications Team.
• Support the ZWE Communications Team on media outreach matters within Europe when requested by organisations in our wider movement - namely GAIA, the Rethink Plastic alliance and the Break Free From Plastic movement.
• Support Zero Waste Europe’s spin-off, Mission Zero Academy, with the drafting and sending of press releases regarding the Zero Waste Cities Certification and the Zero Waste Business Certification.
• Responding to media inquiries and being available for interview support outside of working hours, on a reasonable basis.

 

Hybrid Communications:

• Build overall communications strategies: help set up structures and proactively contribute to effective communication and outreach. This work will consist of: 
  • Identifying and setting up internal tools for online communications and campaigns.
  • Analysing the impact of communication campaigns, preparing measurement reports and proposing improvements aiming to maximise our impact.
• Lead the implementation of communication campaigns and undertake actions to develop relationships with target audiences, including:
  • Identifying target audiences, including running market research, and creating strategies to effectively engage them; 
  • Implementing online communication campaigns;
  • Managing engagement tools ;
  • Writing, editing and proofreading communication materials for different channels (achievement texts, blog posts, guides, etc.);
  • Writing and producing newsletters;
  • Updating the Zero Waste Europe and Zero Waste Cities websites.
  • Managing ZWE’s social media channels - always taking into account a community engagement and solution-oriented approach;
  • Leading the publication and distribution of materials - either in-house or by leading the liaison activities with suppliers (designers, videographers, photographers, proofreaders, translators, …)
• Support the Zero Waste Live! webinars series by implementing communications and promotion activities.

 

Required skills and competencies

General skills

• A minimum of 3-4 years experience in a Comms role (particularly in a Public Relations/Media Outreach-related role) is desired.

Education

Contexte et rôle
Le Finance Coordinator est mandaté par le Directeur Support Services de VSF-B auquel  il rapporte .

Il a un rôle de coordination du support en gestion comptable, financière et de trésorerie et contribue au support en matière budgétaire pour les activités de VSF-B tant au siège que dans les pays d’intervention.

Il s’intègre dans une équipe Finances de 5 personnes au siège de VSF qui compte actuellement 20 collaborateurs.
 
Responsabilités

Cette fonction coordonne la mise en œuvre des activités suivantes :
•    la vérification et la clôture trimestrielle des comptabilités pays et du siège dans les échéances prédéfinies en lien et si nécessaire en appui à l’ Assistante Finance, s’assurer que celles-ci respec-tent les règles comptables et de contrôles internes définies dans le manuel finance ;
•    la gestion de la trésorerie globale: le contrôle régulier des soldes et mouvements bancaires glo-baux, le pilotage de la trésorerie, avec l’appui de l’Assistante Finance, le contrôle des demandes de fonds terrain 
•    la mise en place et le suivi du budget Finance du Siège;
•    la mise à jour et l’implémentation du cadre en matière financière et de contrôle interne en lien avec le Directeur des Services Support sur les dossiers qu’il a en charge
Il est en lead sur :
•    Le développement et la mise à jour régulière des procédures et outils de la comptabilité et de la trésorerie;
•    Le contrôle et la signature des paiements siège ;
•    Audits : la planification, la préparation et le bon déroulement de l’audit statutaire annuel de l’organisation, ainsi que des audits de projets individuels des bailleurs de fonds ayant lieu en Belgique et tout autre audit/contrôle planifié ou spontané de l’organisation;
•    Le développement du planning et des instructions liés à la clôture annuelle ;

Pour les régions et le terrain, cette fonction :
•    Coordonne  les rapports financiers pour les projets du siège et les projets pays, vérifie que les demandes de paiements dus sur les projets gérés par le siège (DGD, MDM, etc …) sont bien en-voyées dans les échéances et reçues rapidement sur les comptes bancaires;
•    S’assure des capacités comptables des partenaires locaux ainsi que des comptables/financiers  de VSFB (missions, visites, soutien à distance);

Mission

Le/la responsable de la récolte de fonds sera chargé de concevoir et de mettre en œuvre des stratégies de récolte de fonds efficaces pour générer des revenus et développer les sources de financement de notre organisation.

Il/elle s’assure que les objectifs définis soient atteints et veille à ce que la stratégie et les actions soient en adéquation avec les valeurs de l’organisation.

Tâches

Fidélisation des donateurs :

•  Opérationnalisation et adaptation du plan stratégique de rétention et de fidélisation des donateurs actuels ;
• En charge de l’écriture des mailings et du suivi avec les différents prestataires (imprimeur, graphiste, rédacteur …) ;
• Gestion des campagnes d’appel téléphonique des donateurs

CONTEXT

 

The Inclusive Development Advocacy Officer is part of HI Federation Advocacy and Institutional Relations team (AIR).  This unit coordinates, organizes, manages and implements the advocacy of Humanity & Inclusion at global level.

 

Under the supervision of the Inclusive Development Advocacy Manager, the Inclusive Development Advocacy Officer contributes to the design and implementation of HI’s
advocacy strategies and activities relating to the current priority topics for inclusive development advocacy (i.e. i) inclusive education, ii) rehabilitation in health systems, and iii) more broadly the inclusion of persons with disabilities in development cooperation).  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Assist the Inclusive Development Advocacy Manager with the development and revision of the advocacy strategies and action plans on inclusive education, and rehabilitation

• Contribute to the preparation, monitoring, evaluation and update of the advocacy strategies and the three-year plan of action, including via relevant analyses and tools (stakeholders mapping, policy analysis)
• Support with the functioning of the internal thematic advocacy coordination group

  

Contribute to the implementation of the advocacy strategies, in line with the action plan, relating to inclusive education, and rehabilitation

• Build an enhanced understanding of the different policy aspects and stakeholders, in particular relating to inclusive education
• Contribute to the production of evidence-based advocacy messages

• Comply with HI quality standards and internal procedures relating to advocacy
• Report any issues with compliance to the line manager
• Contribute to the design and delivery of presentations and training tools on advocacy
• Provide advocacy-related inputs into internal processes as requested
