We offer:
This position is offered as a full-time position in Brussels, Belgium for a period of twelve months. It can be made permanent, subject to satisfactory performance and available funding.
We offer a salary between 3966 € and 4.523 € gross, depending on a competency assessment. This salary has been calculated with the projected inflation increase relevant for FoEE. It will be adjusted in January 2025 according to the final percentage published by the Belgian government.
FoEE offers an attractive benefits package, including a 13th month salary, lunch vouchers, an additional 5 days of holidays per year, pension scheme, hospitalisation and comprehensive travel insurance. We also offer full coverage of train travel in case of commuting within Belgium. FoEE offers a motivating working environment in an international office located in an environmentally-friendly NGO building.
To carry out the job, the team member must be based in Belgium. The job is subject to FoEE’s teleworking policy, which allows for hybrid working.

Description

Based in: Friends of the Earth Europe, Brussels, hybrid
We are looking for a Finance Manager to design and implement appropriate processes and systems compliant with legal and donor requirements, that ensure timely budgeting and financial management, including monitoring and analysis of expenditure, reporting and income projections, and audits.
The postholder is part of the Finance and Resources team, together with the finance officer, grants manager and fundraising coordinator. The Finance and Resources coordinator manages the team.

Key responsibilities:
  • Timely and accurate budgeting

Budgeting
  • Design and implement effective budgeting models for teams and the entire organisation
  • Ensure the annual budget is developed in compliance with donor requirements
  • Support budgeting for grants and project applications
Transactions management and recording
  • Develop and implement a transactions management and recording process to ensure accurate book keeping
  • Develop and implement internal control mechanisms to ensure compliance with legal and audit requirements
  • Ensure allocation of costs to projects and grants
  • Liaise with the accountant
Monitoring and forecasting
  • Monitor income and expenditure and provide risk analysis
  • Produce quarterly expenditure reports
  • Produce forecasting reports, including strategic advice
Reporting
  • Ensure timely reporting of the annual operating grant
  • Ensure the timely preparation and reporting of grants and project reports for FoEE and with partners together with the grant manager
Financial management
  • Keep track of and communicate regularly with the Finances and Resources coordinator and Director on budgeting, forecasting and risk analysis
  • Support the capacity building of members for participation in joint projects
Audits
  • Ensure the timely preparation of audits of grants and project for FoEE, and with partners, together with the grant manager
  • Ensure the statutory audit
