General Responsibilities
The intern will contribute to media, social media and communication related projects on a range of topics. The intern will learn about media monitoring for European countries, creating effective social media content, liaising with the press, and organizing meetings and events.
Responsibilities
- Researching and contacting European news and media outlets with which Search for Common Ground can share their expertise
- In collaboration with the Press and Communications Manager editing press releases, op eds, other media-related content
- Helping to develop social media posts and strategies with a focus on video content.
- Helping conceive and create engaging content to drive brand awareness and attract new subscribers
- Supporting in conceptualizing key messages, defining target audience(s), goals to reach and message to deliver
- Supporting the Communications team with more general tasks: writing, translating texts, proof-reading, administrative functions relative to the communications activities.
Requirements
- Current undergraduate student in communications, journalism or development studies (with experience in communications), with internship being a mandatory part of the study programme
- Good working ability in English as well as fluency in one of the following languages: German, Spanish, Swedish, Danish or Norwegian
- Strong written communication skills in one of the aforementioned languages
- A self-starting, enthusiastic, and flexible approach to the organization and the position
- Experience in graphic design or creating infographics
- An eye for creative detail, and the technical skills to translate ideas into compelling visuals
- Experience in managing and tracking social media
- Creative, artistic, and knowledgeable about trending styles
- Applicants should be well-organized, self-motivated, and reliable with a strong interest in peacebuilding, news media, and social media

Duration: The intern should be able to commit to working for Search for Common Ground by preference for at least a 4-month initial period.
Compensation: The intern needs to be part of an internship programme at their university. This internship is unpaid; a small stipend will be provided to cover food and transport costs.
Residency requirement: Please note that EU residency is required for this internship.
Location: Brussels.

Intern Communications
The Communications Department of Search for Common Ground (Search) is seeking a student to intern in the Brussels office. Ideally, the candidate will be available between four and six months in the beginning of 2025. This internship requires a minimum commitment of 4 days per week.

The Communications department focuses on developing Search’s media engagement, as well as effectively representing and positioning Search’s programmatic and policy priorities around the world via external channels such as our website and social media as well as internal channels such as our newsletters.
